Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 13-km section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor on Sunday, marking the extension of the Namo Bharat network into the national capital. This section connects Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh with New Ashok Nagar in Delhi.
During the ceremony, PM Modi took a ride on the Namo Bharat train, interacting with passengers and children during his journey from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar.

Operational Details: The newly opened 55-km corridor stretches from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, featuring 11 stations. Passenger services will begin at 5 PM, with trains running every 15 minutes.
Fares: Tickets from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South are priced at ₹150 for the standard coach and ₹225 for the premium coach.
Integration with Metro: The Anand Vihar station on this route serves as a key transit hub, connecting the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Pink Lines, a railway station, and a bus terminal.
Underground Section: For the first time, Namo Bharat trains will operate in a 6-km underground section within Delhi, including the crucial Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar stations.
This inauguration follows the earlier launch of the 17-km priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot on October 20, 2024.
A Major Leap in Connectivity
The Namo Bharat corridor offers a seamless and efficient travel experience, reducing the travel time between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South to under 40 minutes. Spanning 82 km, the corridor connects Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, featuring 16 RRTS stations and nine Meerut Metro stations.
This state-of-the-art transit system not only improves regional connectivity but also integrates with the Delhi Metro, enhancing the commuting experience for millions of passengers.
