Focus on Outcomes and Student-Centric Reforms
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on flagship education schemes, policy reforms, digital education initiatives, teacher capacity-building programmes and student support mechanisms. The Minister reviewed both ongoing and upcoming initiatives with a strong emphasis on measurable outcomes and timely delivery.
Shri Pradhan reiterated that students remain at the heart of all educational planning and policy interventions. He stressed that every scheme must translate into tangible improvements in learning outcomes, employability and overall student development, especially for learners from underserved and marginalised communities.
NEP 2020 Vision at the Core
Highlighting the transformative vision of the National Education Policy 2020, the Minister called for the creation of a holistic, inclusive and future-ready education ecosystem. He emphasised that reforms must align with India’s civilisational values while also adopting global best practices in teaching, assessment and institutional governance.
The review also covered the role of digital platforms in expanding access to quality education. Officials briefed the Minister on progress in technology-enabled learning, digital repositories and blended education models aimed at bridging regional and socio-economic gaps.
Strengthening Implementation Through Collaboration
Shri Pradhan stressed the importance of continuous monitoring, innovation and stakeholder engagement to ensure effective implementation of education reforms. He highlighted the need for closer collaboration with State governments, educational institutions and teachers to achieve shared national goals.
Institutional strengthening, capacity building of educators and improved coordination between departments were identified as critical enablers for sustaining long-term reform. The Minister also called for data-driven decision-making to track progress and address implementation gaps in real time.
Education as the Foundation of Viksit Bharat
Reiterating the government’s larger national vision, the Minister said education is a key driver in building a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He noted that nurturing young minds through quality education is fundamental to India’s economic growth, social equity and global leadership aspirations.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Dr Vineet Joshi, and other senior officials. The review reaffirmed the Centre’s focus on ensuring that education reforms deliver lasting impact on the ground.
