Shivakumar Clarifies ‘No Option’ Remark

Amid growing speculation over leadership tensions in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar clarified his earlier “What option do I have?” remark, expressing full support for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Shivakumar said, “I have to go by my party. My leadership’s decision is important. We aim to win the 2028 state assembly elections, and I will work towards that.”

His clarification comes at a time when the media and political opponents, particularly the BJP, are pointing to a possible internal rift within the state Congress unit.

CM Siddaramaiah Denies Any Rift

In response to the rumours, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rejected all allegations of a divide, stating, “What the BJP says is only lies. They are known for spreading misinformation.”

Siddaramaiah asserted that the Congress government would complete its full five-year term with him as the Chief Minister. “We are all together. There is no internal issue,” he added.

Strategic Focus on 2028 Elections

Shivakumar’s remarks suggest a broader strategic alignment within the Congress party. He emphasized unity and discipline, indicating that personal ambitions will take a backseat to the party’s collective goal.

“My party is important. My leadership’s decision is important,” he repeated, dismissing the idea of a leadership change as premature and unfounded.

Statewide Cabinet Meetings Continue

To boost governance visibility, the Karnataka government is conducting cabinet meetings across regional divisions. After hosting one in the western region, the latest meeting was held in Bengaluru division.

“We will soon conduct similar meetings in Belagavi and Vijayapura divisions,” said the CM, highlighting the government’s intention to stay connected with local issues.

Congress Responds to BJP’s Claims

The Congress has accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize the government by spreading rumours. Party insiders claim that the unity between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar remains intact despite media narratives.

This renewed public support from DK Shivakumar aims to silence internal and external speculations and refocus attention on development and political preparation for the 2028 elections.
