DoP, SIDBI Partner for Udyam Assist Verification

New Delhi – The Department of Posts (DoP), under the Ministry of Communications, and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct Contact Point Verification (CPV) of Informal Micro Enterprises (IMEs) registered on the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP).
The MoU was signed by Ms. Manisha Bansal Badal, General Manager (Citizen Centric Services & Rural Business) representing DoP, and Shri Amit Nagar, Deputy General Manager of SIDBI. The collaboration establishes a structured framework to enhance verification, data integrity, and credit enablement for informal micro enterprises across India.

Leveraging India Post’s Last-Mile Reach

With over 1.64 lakh post offices, India Post brings its extensive network, trained field personnel, and experience in delivering citizen-centric services to the initiative. This collaboration supports national priorities, including financial inclusion, digital enablement, and formalisation of the informal economy.

SIDBI and Udyam Assist Platform

SIDBI, tasked with promoting and financing the MSME sector, administers the Udyam Assist Platform. The platform is designed to validate data and facilitate formalisation of micro enterprises, granting them access to institutional credit. The CPV mechanism ensures accurate, reliable enterprise information.

Operational Mechanism

The Department of Posts will perform on-ground verifications, confirming demographic details, business particulars, and location validation with geo-tagged evidence. This will be executed through a dedicated CPV mobile application developed by SIDBI, enabling real-time data capture, secure uploads, and timely submission of reports.

Implementation Timeline

The MoU is valid for two years from 31 December 2025 to 30 December 2027, with provisions for extension. It includes guidelines on data confidentiality, information security, GST compliance, and structured payments, ensuring smooth execution of verification processes nationwide.

Significance of the Partnership

This initiative is expected to strengthen informal micro enterprises by providing verified data for credit access, reducing financial exclusion, and improving governance of micro-enterprise development. By leveraging India Post’s reach, the partnership promotes formalisation and transparency in the micro enterprise ecosystem.
