DoT Ensures Telecom Resilience Amid Cyclone Ditwah

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has implemented extensive measures to maintain telecom network resilience in anticipation of Cyclone Ditwah, which is expected to impact coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
To ensure seamless connectivity, DoT has established a 24×7 control room to coordinate with telecom service providers (TSPs) and facilitate rapid response via district administrations and State Disaster Management Authorities. Service providers have been instructed to maintain uninterrupted network operations, adequate fuel reserves, emergency power backups, and deploy field response teams in vulnerable areas.

In line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP-2020), DoT has completed Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) and Cell Broadcast (CB) testing across networks to ensure continuous communication and early warning dissemination during the emergency.

DoT continues to monitor the cyclone situation closely through its control room and regular updates from TSPs, aiming to ensure uninterrupted communication services during and after the storm.

Authorities reaffirmed that these proactive steps are part of a coordinated approach to safeguard critical communication infrastructure, support emergency services, and provide timely alerts to citizens in affected regions.
