UPSC: Pillar of Integrity and Meritocracy
Speaking in the presence of Hon’ble Speaker Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla and UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Singh emphasized UPSC’s century-long commitment to integrity, transparency, and fairness. He recalled Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of the Civil Services as India’s “Steel Frame” and praised UPSC for living up to that responsibility through both pre- and post-Independence eras.
Historic Significance of 2025
Dr. Singh highlighted 2025 as a landmark year, coinciding with the 150th birth anniversaries of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and 150 years since the composition of Vande Mataram. He noted that UPSC’s centenary aligns with these national milestones, reinforcing its central role in India’s democratic and administrative heritage.
Pratibha Setu: Bridging Talent and Opportunity
Commending UPSC’s recent initiatives, Dr. Singh praised the ‘Pratibha Setu’ portal as an innovative platform connecting candidates who clear stages of the Civil Services exams but do not achieve final selection with private sector and institutional opportunities. He described the portal as a transformative bridge ensuring India’s intellectual potential contributes to national development.
Shaping Viksit Bharat @2047
Dr. Singh emphasized UPSC’s broader mandate, including framing service rules, reviewing administrative practices, and setting ethical standards. He affirmed that future leaders of Viksit Bharat @2047 will emerge from the Commission, trained in meritocracy, fairness, and public service excellence.
Centenary Conclave at Bharat Mandapam
The two-day ‘Shatabdi Sammelan’ (26–27 November 2025) brought together present and former Chairpersons and Members of UPSC and State Public Service Commissions, senior government officials, scholars, and distinguished personalities. UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar welcomed dignitaries, acknowledging former members as luminaries who set benchmarks for succeeding generations. He reaffirmed UPSC’s dedication to fairness, meritocracy, and equity.
Lok Sabha Speaker Lauds UPSC
In his keynote address, Shri Om Birla praised UPSC as one of the most important institutions in India’s democratic framework. Highlighting its impartiality, confidentiality, and accountability, he noted UPSC’s global benchmark in civil service recruitment. The Speaker stressed UPSC’s adaptability to modern challenges such as AI, climate change, cybersecurity, and national security, emphasizing the Commission’s enduring relevance.

Shri Birla also underscored UPSC’s inclusive examination processes, where candidates from diverse regions, languages, and socio-economic backgrounds participate with confidence in the system’s fairness. He concluded that UPSC will continue to shape India’s governance, producing leaders with ethical values, sensitivity, and commitment to public service.
