DRDO–RRU Pact to Strengthen Defence, Security

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 22 December 2025 to promote collaboration in research, education, training, and technology support for defence and internal security. The MoU was inked by Dr Chandrika Kaushik, DG of DRDO, and Prof (Dr) Bimal N Patel, Vice Chancellor of RRU, in the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh at South Block, New Delhi.

Boosting India’s Self-Reliance

The partnership aims to strengthen India’s self-reliance in defence and internal security technologies, aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the national Amrit Kaal strategy. The MoU reflects a commitment to integrating technology, operational insights, and knowledge to enhance national security preparedness.

Academic and Technological Collaboration

Rashtriya Raksha University, a national institution under the Ministry of Home Affairs, brings academic, policy, and training expertise in internal security. DRDO, the premier defence R&D organisation, contributes cutting-edge indigenous technologies and system-level expertise for the Armed Forces and security agencies.

Under the MoU, both organisations will work on joint research projects, PhD and fellowship programmes, as well as specialised training and capacity-building initiatives for security forces. Collaboration will also focus on emerging operational challenges, technology gap analysis, and life-cycle management of DRDO-developed systems inducted into Central Armed Police Forces and other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Strengthening National Security Preparedness

The DRDO-RRU partnership will integrate research, training, and operational knowledge to enhance India’s strategic autonomy in internal security. By combining academic insight with technological expertise, the collaboration ensures preparedness against evolving security threats while reinforcing India’s indigenous defence ecosystem.
