DSIR Achieves Milestones in Special Campaign 5.0

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has reported significant achievements in its ongoing Special Campaign 5.0, which began on October 2 and will continue until October 31, 2025. The campaign aims to enhance cleanliness, streamline record management, and reduce pendency across the Department, its autonomous body CSIR, and public sector units National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Central Electronics Ltd. (CEL).

Midterm Review Highlights

A midterm review conducted in mid-October highlighted that DSIR has already accomplished over 50% of its targets regarding public grievance disposal and record management. The campaign has also achieved impressive results in clearing scrap and freeing office space, with 14,910 square feet of space cleared and revenue generation of Rs. 1,09,26,595 (One crore nine lakh twenty-six thousand five hundred ninety-five).

Ongoing Efforts and Campaign Scope

Outdoor initiatives are actively underway to reach a total target of 146 activities by the campaign’s end on October 31. These efforts include systematic clearing of obsolete records, disposal of redundant materials, and revitalizing office spaces to ensure operational efficiency.

DSIR officials expressed optimism that the campaign will not only meet but potentially exceed the remaining targets, generating long-term improvements in departmental workflow and contributing positively to the operational capacity of its administered organizations.

Impact on PSUs and Autonomous Bodies

The campaign has directly impacted DSIR’s autonomous body, CSIR, and the two PSUs, CEL and NRDC, by improving space utilization, promoting transparency in operations, and creating revenue opportunities through the sale of scrap. The holistic approach of Special Campaign 5.0 underscores the Department’s commitment to operational excellence and administrative efficiency.
