ECI Releases ‘Chunav ka Parv, Bihar ka Garv’ on NVD 2026

RR Team, January 25, 2026January 25, 2026
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) marked the 16th National Voters’ Day (NVD) in New Delhi on January 25, 2026, by releasing a special publication titled “Chunav ka Parv, Bihar ka Garv: A Journey – Bihar Assembly Elections 2025”, highlighting the landmark conduct of the Bihar Assembly elections.

The National Voters’ Day celebration was organised under the theme “My India, My Vote”, with the tagline “Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy”. The event underscored the Election Commission’s continued focus on strengthening democratic participation and voter-centric reforms.

President Murmu Presides Over National Function

The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presided over the national-level function as the Chief Guest. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge), Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour.

The event was led by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, reflecting the collective leadership of the constitutional body.

Publication on Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 Released

The publication “Chunav ka Parv, Bihar ka Garv” was formally released during the ceremony, with the first copy presented to President Murmu by the Chief Election Commissioner. The book documents the comprehensive journey of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, which were widely regarded as a milestone in India’s electoral history.

The volume highlights the institutional preparedness of the ECI and the coordinated efforts of election officials, security forces, and volunteers across Bihar.

Record Voter Turnout and Women Participation

According to the publication, the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 recorded the highest voter turnout since 1951, reaching 67.3 per cent. A notable feature of the elections was the unprecedented participation of women voters, with a turnout of 71.8 per cent.

These figures reflected growing public trust in the electoral process and the success of targeted voter awareness initiatives across urban and rural regions.

Special Intensive Revision Strengthens Credibility

The elections were conducted on the foundation of a Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, which ensured accuracy, inclusivity, and transparency. The exercise played a crucial role in maintaining the sanctity of voter lists and strengthening confidence in the democratic process.

The publication details how this groundwork helped deliver free, fair, and peaceful elections across the state.

A Festival of Democracy in Bihar

Beyond administrative measures, the book captures the enthusiastic participation of citizens from all walks of life. From first-time voters to senior citizens, the people of Bihar transformed the elections into a true festival of democracy.

The publication also documents innovative voter outreach programmes, technological interventions, and field-level best practices adopted during the elections.

Reinforcing Democratic Values

The National Voters’ Day 2026 celebration reaffirmed the Election Commission’s commitment to placing citizens at the core of India’s democratic framework. The release of the Bihar elections publication served as a testament to how institutional integrity and public participation together strengthen democracy.
