As counting continues for the 2024 assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on track to secure a third consecutive term in Haryana, while J&K is witnessing its first assembly election in a decade. Currently, in Haryana, the BJP has claimed victory in 13 seats and is leading in 38 of the 90-member assembly. The Congress has won 14 seats and is leading in 20.
In Jammu & Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance has won 42 seats thus far, while the BJP has secured 26. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won three seats, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) achieved its first electoral success in the region through candidate Mehraj Malik.
These assembly elections mark the first in Jammu & Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, transitioning the region from a state to a Union Territory.
