Farewell Ceremony Honours Union Agriculture Secretary

New Delhi – The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare hosted a solemn farewell ceremony on Saturday to honor Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, the outgoing Secretary of the Ministry, marking his retirement after a distinguished administrative career. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, led the event, paying tribute to Dr. Chaturvedi’s contributions and welcoming the newly appointed Agriculture Secretary, Shri Atish Chandra.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Chouhan lauded Dr. Chaturvedi’s exemplary tenure, highlighting his dedication, balanced decision-making, and ability to provide strategic direction to the Ministry even under challenging circumstances. “Dr. Chaturvedi consistently demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, enhancing transparency and efficiency in the Ministry’s operations,” the Minister stated.He emphasized that Dr. Chaturvedi’s foresight and commitment ensured timely and effective implementation of policies, strengthening coordination across departments and advancing the welfare of farmers nationwide. The Minister described the outgoing Secretary’s administrative acumen as pivotal in advancing the Ministry’s initiatives and achieving tangible results.

In a gesture of appreciation, Shri Chouhan presented Dr. Chaturvedi with a memento and a bouquet, acknowledging his years of service to India’s agricultural sector. The event was attended by senior officials, including Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, and Dr. M.L. Jat, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), along with staff members and colleagues who expressed their gratitude and admiration.

During the ceremony, Shri Chouhan welcomed Shri Atish Chandra as the new Agriculture Secretary, expressing confidence that under his leadership, the Ministry would continue to advance farmer-centric policies and implement effective agricultural strategies. “I am optimistic that Shri Chandra will build upon the strong foundation laid by his predecessor and further strengthen our efforts towards agricultural growth and rural development,” he added.
