Sitharaman to Launch NITI NCAER Economic Forum Portal

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the “NITI NCAER States Economic Forum” portal on April 1, 2025, in New Delhi. The move marks a major step toward improving data accessibility and research on state finances.

NITI Aayog developed the portal in partnership with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). It will serve as a rich database of economic, social, and fiscal information. The coverage spans over three decades, from 1990-91 to 2022-23.

The initiative aims to give policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders deeper insights into India’s state-level economic landscape. It will offer detailed state reports that summarise key economic and fiscal indicators. In addition, a robust data repository will cover demography, economic structure, health, and education.

The portal will also feature an interactive dashboard with clear graphical trends. Moreover, a research and commentary section will host expert opinions on state finances and fiscal policy.

This new platform will close existing gaps in data consolidation. It will present vital information in a user-friendly and accessible format. With its tools, users can compare states and measure them against national benchmarks.

By enabling such comparisons, the forum will promote evidence-based policymaking. It will also help leaders track economic progress and shape strategies for the future.

Overall, the launch reflects the government’s commitment to transparency and data-driven governance. With this portal, researchers and policymakers will gain stronger tools to plan, analyse, and make informed decisions.
