First Meeting of Ayush Consultative Committee on 19 August 2025
The newly formed Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Ayush will hold its first meeting on 19 August 2025. Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav, who has independent charge of Ayush and serves as MoS in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will chair the session. The meeting will promote dialogue between the Ministry and Members of Parliament. It will review ongoing initiatives and plan future policies in traditional and holistic healthcare.
Significance of the Committee
The Government of India established the separate Ayush Consultative Committee on 5 May 2025. This move recognizes the growing role of Ayush systems in India’s healthcare framework. Earlier, the Health and Family Welfare Consultative Committee handled Ayush matters. The new committee now provides focused parliamentary oversight and ensures active engagement with Ayush policies and programmes.
This decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening traditional medicine. It also integrates holistic healthcare into the national health system. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized promoting India’s traditional knowledge globally. He also aims to leverage it to advance national health priorities.
