Fisheries Dept Launches Special Campaign 5.0 for Swachhata

The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying is set to actively participate in the Special Campaign 5.0 from 2nd to 31st October 2025. Preparatory activities have already begun from 15th to 30th September, in alignment with guidelines issued by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

Focus Areas of Special Campaign 5.0

This year’s campaign emphasizes Swachhata, efficient record management, reducing pendency, and scientific disposal of scrap and electronic waste. Building on the successes of Special Campaign 4.0, the Fisheries Department aims to achieve measurable improvements across all offices and field institutes.

Active Participation Across Institutes

All field institutes and offices, including the Fishery Survey of India (FSI), Central Institute of Coastal Engineering for Fisheries (CICEF), National Institute of Fish Post-Harvest Technology and Training (NIPHATT), Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET), National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), and Central Aquaculture Authority (CAA), are fully engaged in the cleanliness drive. Preparatory measures, such as reviewing existing records and organizing resources for effective disposal of e-waste, are already underway.

Commitment to Tangible Outcomes

The Fisheries Department has reiterated its commitment to delivering tangible results, aiming to create a cleaner, safer, and more efficient work environment. Officers across all levels will actively participate in monitoring, reporting, and implementing Swachhata initiatives. Awareness campaigns will also target staff and stakeholders to ensure active engagement and sustainability of cleanliness practices.

Looking Ahead

Special Campaign 5.0 represents a structured effort to streamline administrative functions while promoting environmental responsibility. By leveraging lessons from previous campaigns, the Fisheries Department seeks to enhance institutional efficiency and compliance with DARPG guidelines. These initiatives are expected to benefit not only the offices and institutes but also set an example for other government departments to follow.
