Fit India Sunday: Dr. Mandaviya’s Teachers’ Day Ride

The Fit India Sundays on Cycle program is all set for a special World Teachers’ Day edition on October 5, 2025, at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will grace the event as chief guest, leading hundreds of teachers, students, and citizens in a cycling rally that promotes health, fitness, and sustainability.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Mandaviya said, “Let us celebrate our gurus who shape the nation on this World Teachers’ Day. I urge every citizen, young and old, to join tomorrow’s Fit India Sundays on Cycle. And pledge ourselves to be healthy and fit and strive towards a more AtmaNirbhar Bharat.”

Star-Studded Participation

The event will feature prominent athletes and fitness influencers, adding star power to the cycling drive:

  • Sachin Yadav: India’s rising javelin thrower, silver medalist at the 2025 Asian Championships, and fourth-place finisher at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
  • Tania Sachdev: International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM), two-time Indian Women’s Chess Champion, and renowned chess commentator.
  • Abhishek Nain: Olympic bronze medalist (Paris 2024), gold medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth and Asian Games, and key member of India’s Asia Cup 2025-winning hockey team.
  • Rohtash Chaudhary: Popularly known as the ‘Push-up Man of India’, inspiring fitness enthusiasts nationwide.

Participation and Outreach

Close to 1,000 participants, including representatives from the Education Department, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Lady Shri Ram College, and citizens from all walks of life, are expected to join the cycling drive. The initiative encourages people to embrace the Fit India motto: “Ek Ghanta Roz, Khel Ke Saath”, promoting daily physical activity for a healthier lifestyle.

This special edition pays tribute to teachers, recognising their pivotal role in shaping young minds and inspiring future champions. It highlights the importance of integrating fitness into everyday life while celebrating educators for their guidance and dedication.
