In Gondal, the event saw over 250 cyclists enthusiastically participating, spreading the message of physical fitness and reducing carbon footprints. Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Mandaviya urged, “To make India fit, we have to participate on Sundays on Cycle.” He emphasized cycling as an ideal exercise for all age groups and highlighted its role in community bonding.
Fit India Movement Vision
Dr. Mandaviya stated, “A country is only as strong as its citizens. To create the Viksit Bharat of our dreams, we must ensure every Indian is at their best physical and mental fitness.” The 57th edition continues the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to integrate fitness into daily life through initiatives like ‘Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz’.
Hyderabad Event Highlights
At the Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad, over 1,000 participants cycled in the event organized with the Heartfulness Institute. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy praised the initiative, highlighting its role in reducing modern lifestyle-related health issues such as obesity and stress. He stressed the importance of reintegrating physical activity into daily routines to complement modern technology.
Badminton legend Pullela Gopichand underlined the importance of consistent exercise in developing discipline and sporting excellence, while other athletes and Fit India Ambassadors were felicitated for promoting fitness.
Impact and Growth of the Initiative
The Fit India Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a nationwide movement, engaging over 22 lakh citizens across more than 2 lakh locations. It encourages sustainable, low-carbon transportation and promotes a culture of health consciousness among citizens. The initiative also emphasizes inclusivity, connecting urban and rural populations through fitness.
Launched on 29th August 2019, the Fit India Movement continues to strengthen the nation’s fitness culture, aligning with the government’s goals of public health, environmental responsibility, and national development.
