Global Stage for Ayurveda
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, highlighted the importance of Goa as the host state. “Goa provides the perfect global stage for Ayurveda Day. With its international outlook and deep roots in wellness, Goa will amplify this year’s theme. We are not just celebrating a tradition; we are taking Ayurveda to the world as a sustainable healthcare solution,” he said during an address in Mount Abu, Rajasthan.
The choice of AIIA, Goa—a state-of-the-art institution under the Ministry of Ayush—reflects India’s commitment to building world-class infrastructure for research, training, and international collaboration in Ayurveda.
Theme: Ayurveda for People & Planet
The 2025 theme emphasizes Ayurveda’s role in promoting holistic health and environmental sustainability. It aligns with India’s efforts to position Ayurveda not just as a traditional practice but as a science-backed, planet-friendly healthcare system. According to the Ministry, the vision is to make Ayurveda a global partner in tackling modern health and ecological challenges.
Nationwide celebrations are being planned across states and union territories. In addition, Indian Missions abroad, international universities, wellness organizations, and diaspora groups will participate in the outreach program. Last year’s Ayurveda Day saw engagement from more than 150 countries, and this year the Ministry expects an even broader reach .
India’s Global Wellness Diplomacy
The celebrations are also part of India’s broader cultural diplomacy. By promoting Ayurveda on a global platform, the government aims to strengthen India’s leadership in integrative and sustainable health systems. Ayurveda Day 2025 will showcase innovations, evidence-based practices, and collaborations with the global scientific community.
Officials note that Ayurveda’s increasing acceptance in international forums reflects a growing interest in natural, preventive, and lifestyle-based healthcare. With Goa already known as a wellness hub, the event is expected to further reinforce India’s soft power in global health diplomacy.
