Goa to Host 10th Ayurveda Day on Sept 23 with Global Focus

RR Team, September 13, 2025September 13, 2025
India is preparing for a landmark celebration as the 10th Ayurveda Day will be held on 23 September 2025 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa. This year’s event will carry the global theme “Ayurveda for People & Planet”, highlighting the relevance of traditional Indian medicine in tackling modern healthcare and environmental challenges.

The announcement was made by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, during a conference at Mount Abu. He said that India is “taking Ayurveda to the world as a sustainable healthcare solution,” underlining the government’s commitment to positioning Ayurveda as an evidence-based system of holistic wellness.

Goa Chosen as Global Venue

For the first time, Ayurveda Day will be observed on a fixed calendar date—23 September—departing from the earlier practice of celebrating it on Dhanvantari Jayanti. Hosting the main event at AIIA Goa marks the state’s growing recognition as a global wellness hub, combining international outreach with India’s traditional roots.

Minister Jadhav emphasized that Goa’s international appeal will amplify Ayurveda’s reach. “Goa provides the perfect global stage for Ayurveda Day. We are not just celebrating a tradition; we are promoting Ayurveda as a viable, sustainable healthcare model for today’s world,” he said.

Theme: Ayurveda for People & Planet

The 2025 theme focuses on promoting Ayurveda as a system that benefits both human health and the environment. It aligns with the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a leader in sustainable and integrative healthcare.

Officials explained that Ayurveda Day will emphasize not only wellness for individuals but also ecological balance, natural resource preservation, and holistic living. This approach reflects the principle that the health of the planet and its people are deeply interconnected.

Global Outreach and Participation

The Ministry of Ayush has outlined an ambitious program for this year’s Ayurveda Day. Events will be organized across all Indian states and union territories, while Indian Missions abroad will host parallel activities to engage global communities. Partnerships with international universities, wellness organizations, and diaspora networks will further expand the outreach.

Building on last year’s record participation across 150+ countries, the 2025 edition aims to achieve even greater global engagement. According to officials, this effort reinforces India’s leadership in advancing traditional medicine as part of modern health systems worldwide.

India’s Commitment to Wellness Diplomacy

This year’s celebration also dovetails with India’s broader diplomatic and cultural efforts. By showcasing Ayurveda as a science backed by tradition and research, the government hopes to strengthen international recognition of its benefits. The move is also expected to enhance India’s reputation as a destination for wellness tourism.

As the global health community seeks sustainable alternatives to conventional medicine, Ayurveda is being positioned as a planet-friendly and evidence-based system. The focus on “Ayurveda for People & Planet” signals India’s determination to integrate traditional knowledge into solutions for 21st-century challenges.
