Government Launches Dharti Aaba TribePreneurs 2025 to Empower Tribal Entrepreneurs

RR Team, March 29, 2025March 29, 2025

The Government of India has taken a significant step towards empowering the tribal community by launching the Dharti Aaba TribePreneurs 2025 initiative. This effort, led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, aims to provide a platform for Scheduled Tribe (ST) entrepreneurs to showcase their talents, innovations, and business ventures at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, India’s largest startup event, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from April 3 to 5.

The initiative is part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, one of the most respected tribal freedom fighters in India’s history. Through this event, the government seeks to honor his legacy by promoting entrepreneurship and economic independence among tribal communities.

As part of this ambitious programme, over 45 startups founded by ST entrepreneurs from across the country will be featured at Startup Mahakumbh 2025. These tribal startups will have the opportunity to present their products and ideas, network with investors, and connect with mentors and industry leaders. Some of these startups have already gained recognition and secured funding, a testament to the innovative potential within India’s tribal communities.

The Ministry’s vision is to enable these entrepreneurs to grow their businesses beyond local boundaries and make a mark on the national and global stage. By facilitating exposure, investment opportunities, and access to technical expertise, the government hopes to nurture tribal-led businesses and help them contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic growth.

In addition to supporting existing tribal entrepreneurs, the initiative focuses on encouraging the next generation of tribal innovators. Around 300 students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and technical institutes will attend a special boot camp at IIT Delhi during Startup Mahakumbh. This will allow them to witness firsthand the evolving startup ecosystem, interact with successful entrepreneurs, and gain the skills and motivation needed to pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams.

The government has also established a dedicated ₹50 crore Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Tribes to provide financial support to promising tribal startups. This fund is part of the broader mission to create an inclusive and self-reliant India, where all communities, including those from remote tribal regions, have equal access to opportunities and resources.

Speaking about the initiative, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram highlighted the significance of empowering tribal entrepreneurs and called them the backbone of India’s cultural and economic heritage. He expressed hope that platforms like Startup Mahakumbh would give tribal businesses the visibility and support they deserve.

Secretary of the Ministry, Shri Vibhu Nayar, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that fostering entrepreneurship among tribal communities is a crucial step towards economic empowerment and sustainable growth.

Through Dharti Aaba TribePreneurs 2025, the government is not only honoring the contributions of tribal communities but also paving the way for their future prosperity. The initiative reflects a broader vision of an India where every citizen, regardless of background, has the opportunity to dream, innovate, and succeed.
