The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has awarded the Thiruvananthapuram CGST Zone with a Commendation Certificate. This honor recognizes the zone’s stellar achievements in GST administration, especially in:
- Fast-tracking registrations: 55% of GST applications processed within 7 days (national average: 17%)
- Appeal resolution: 83% of GST appeals disposed of efficiently within the year
This performance reflects a proactive and citizen-friendly approach to tax administration that aligns with the theme of GST Day 2025 — “GST – Simplifying Taxes: Empowering Citizens.”

Revenue Growth Speaks for Itself

The zone also reported strong fiscal performance in the first two months of FY 2025–26:
- GST Revenue Growth: 18%
- Central Excise Growth: 14%
Additionally, enforcement and audit teams booked tax evasion cases worth ₹580 crore, reinforcing the zone’s commitment to compliance and accountability.
Initiatives That Go Beyond Tax Filing
During the recently concluded GST Pakhwada 2025, the zone rolled out several initiatives across Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, and Kozhikode Commissionerates. These included:
- GST Helpdesks: Set up across divisions, resolving over 200 taxpayer grievances
- FIT India Cycle Marathons: Held on May 18, 2025, promoting fitness and public engagement
- Awareness Drives in Schools: 20 schools hosted competitions and creative GST-themed sessions
Such community outreach programs serve as critical tools in building trust and transparency between the tax department and citizens.

The GST Day 2025 celebrations will take place on 1st July 2025 in Thiruvananthapuram. The event will be graced by:
