Har Ghar Tiranga 2025: Over 5 Lakh Youths Join as Volunteers

RR Team, August 12, 2025August 12, 2025

The Ministry of Culture has announced the fourth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, calling upon citizens across India to hoist the National Flag and celebrate the spirit of independence. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, revealed that more than 5 lakh youths have already registered as volunteers to spread awareness and encourage participation in the 2025 campaign.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Shri Shekhawat emphasised that the campaign is “more than a programme — it is an emotional movement uniting 1.4 billion Indians under the timeless colours of our Tiranga.” The Minister added that these young volunteers will be the driving force, inspiring families, communities, and institutions to join the celebration.

From Formal to Personal Bond with the Tiranga

Since its inception, Har Ghar Tiranga has aimed to transform the connection between citizens and the National Flag from a formal association to a deeply personal one. By bringing the flag into homes, workplaces, and public spaces, the campaign seeks to foster pride, unity, and patriotism while commemorating the sacrifices made for India’s freedom.

Shri Shekhawat noted that this symbolic act reaffirms the country’s collective commitment to nation-building and the values of democracy, integrity, and progress. “It is a reminder that the Tiranga is not just a flag, but a living emblem of our unity in diversity,” he said.

Nationwide Coordination and Participation

The Ministry of Culture, as the nodal agency, is collaborating with state governments, Union Territories, educational institutions, and community organisations to ensure maximum participation. Citizens are encouraged to share photographs and stories of their celebrations on social media using the hashtag #HarGharTiranga.

Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, provided an overview of the planned activities, while representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Jal Shakti detailed events to be conducted by their respective departments. Senior officials from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) also attended the briefing.

Building on Past Success

Over the past three years, Har Ghar Tiranga has evolved into a people’s movement, transforming Independence Day celebrations into a vibrant display of unity. The 2025 edition aims to surpass previous participation levels, with an even stronger focus on youth engagement and grassroots mobilisation.

The campaign’s outreach strategy includes school-based programmes, community events, cultural performances, and digital campaigns. The government also plans to facilitate easy access to the National Flag, ensuring every household can participate.

Embodying the Spirit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Launched as part of the larger Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, Har Ghar Tiranga celebrates India’s 78th Independence Day with renewed enthusiasm. By involving over 5 lakh youth volunteers, the Ministry of Culture hopes to create a ripple effect of patriotism that reaches every corner of the nation.

Citizens are invited to take part between August 13 and 15, 2025, turning the country into a sea of saffron, white, and green — a powerful visual testament to India’s unity and democratic spirit.
