In a dramatic overnight operation, the homes of two men suspected to be involved in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack were reportedly demolished using explosives in south Kashmir.
The house of Asif Ahmad Sheikh was brought down in Mongaham, Tral, while Adil Ahmad Thoker’s residence in Gurre village, Bijbehara, was similarly destroyed between the night of April 24 and 25, according to local villagers. While there has been no official police statement yet, eyewitnesses confirmed the use of explosives in both demolitions.
This development follows the release of names by Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday, identifying three attackers involved in the deadly assault on tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local pony-wallah.
Among the three suspects were two Pakistani nationals and Adil Ahmad Thoker, whose sketch was shared publicly. Thoker, a resident of south Kashmir, had reportedly travelled to Pakistan on a visa in 2018 and returned to the Valley last year.
Police sources also mentioned the likely involvement of a fourth attacker.
Asif’s family confirmed the demolition, stating the house, which belonged to three families, had just two rooms allocated to Asif’s household. “Security forces came and blasted it,” said one of his relatives.
This aggressive action signals a zero-tolerance approach from authorities as the investigation into the Pahalgam massacre intensifies.
