ICEGATE–LPMS Launched at ICP Agartala for Faster Trade

Shri Surjit Bhujabal, Special Secretary & Member (Customs), CBIC, today inaugurated the integration of the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway–Land Port Management System (ICEGATE–LPMS) at the Integrated Check Post (ICP), Agartala, Tripura. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in CBIC’s ongoing digital transformation of cross-border trade facilitation, promising faster, more efficient, and transparent operations.

Seamless Digital Ecosystem for Land Ports

The ICEGATE–LPMS integration enables real-time, bidirectional data exchange between ICEGATE and LPMS, creating a seamless digital ecosystem at land ports. Mirroring the efficiencies already achieved at seaports, airports, and inland container depots, this integration ensures faster clearance of goods, automated workflows for import and export processes, secure data exchange, and robust reconciliation mechanisms to maintain data integrity.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency

The system focuses on critical customs data elements, including Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, Out of Charge (OOC), and Let Export Order (LEO), with event-based updates tracking cargo from slot booking to gate-in and gate-out. These enhancements minimize manual intervention and streamline operational processes at ICP Agartala, aligning India’s border management with global best practices.

Coordinated Border Management & Risk-Based Enforcement

The integration strengthens Coordinated Border Management by harmonizing multiple agencies through shared data, common risk assessment, and synchronized decision-making. Automated status updates and digital workflows reduce transaction costs, enhance ease of doing business, and support faster, more transparent customs operations.

From an enforcement perspective, the integration supports risk-based targeting. Real-time logistics data from LPMS, combined with ICEGATE intelligence, enables early detection of anomalies and selective application of controls, improving compliance outcomes while minimizing disruption to legitimate trade.

Future-Ready Trade Infrastructure

The inauguration reflects joint efforts of CBIC and the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) to maintain globally competitive trade infrastructure. By implementing ICEGATE–LPMS integration, India takes a significant step toward simplifying cross-border trade, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring secure, reliable, and transparent import-export processes.
