ICGS Sachet is carrying 20 metric tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials, including essential medicines and medical stores, to support Mozambique’s disaster management and public health capabilities. This mission reinforces India’s role as a reliable partner in regional humanitarian efforts.During the port call, the crew will engage with Mozambican maritime authorities through professional exchanges focused on Marine Pollution Response (MPR), Maritime Search & Rescue (M-SAR), and Maritime Law Enforcement. Activities include onboard training for Visit, Board, Search & Seizure (VBSS) operations, pollution response drills, joint cultural events, and friendly sports competitions aimed at strengthening interoperability.
In addition to professional engagements, the crew, along with NCC cadets and Assam Rifles personnel, will participate in community initiatives such as beach clean-ups and marine awareness programs in collaboration with local youth groups. These initiatives align with India’s Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, promoting environmental consciousness and reducing marine pollution.
The deployment of ICGS Sachet underscores India’s commitment to leveraging maritime diplomacy, enhancing operational cooperation, and fostering sustainable development through humanitarian support and regional engagement.
