IICA and NPC Join Forces for Productivity and Viksit Bharat

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) recently hosted a high-level delegation from the National Productivity Council (NPC) to discuss strategic collaboration in training, research, productivity, sustainability, and compliance support. The delegation was led by Smt. Neeraja Shekhar, Director General, and Shri Umashankar Prasad, Deputy Director General (Group), NPC.
The guests were welcomed by IICA’s Director General & CEO, Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, who felicitated them with a shawl and memento. In his address, Shri Singh emphasized the evolving demands from industry and highlighted the need for institutions to align with national priorities to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat.

IICA’s Mandate and Collaborative Potential

During the visit, IICA’s Heads of Schools and Centres presented detailed insights into the Institute’s mandate, highlighting its multifaceted role in education, training, research, advocacy, and advisory services. These efforts support both government and private sector initiatives, fostering innovation and compliance across industries.

Shri Singh underlined that strategic partnerships between institutions can amplify their impact, ensuring that India remains competitive, innovative, and sustainable in the global economic landscape.

NPC’s Legacy and Global Engagement

Smt. Neeraja Shekhar noted that NPC, established in 1958, was created to enhance productivity in post-independence India. She recalled the historic productivity delegation to Japan, which laid the foundation for institutionalizing productivity efforts in India.

Today, NPC’s scope extends from industry to agriculture, services, MSMEs, sustainability, green productivity, and ESG-linked initiatives. The Council actively engages with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), facilitating international exposure, study visits, expert exchanges, and productivity benchmarking frameworks to strengthen organizational capability, especially for MSMEs.

Strategic Convergence for Viksit Bharat

Both institutions expressed strong intent to move forward collaboratively, combining IICA’s expertise in policy research, training, and advisory services with NPC’s implementation-driven productivity experience. This partnership aims to support India’s transition towards a high-income, competitive, and sustainable economy.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Naveen Sirohi, Head of the School of Finance and Management at IICA. The collaboration is expected to accelerate initiatives in productivity enhancement, sustainable development, and governance reforms aligned with national priorities.
