India–AI Impact Summit 2026: Seven Chakras Shaping Global AI

RR Team, February 8, 2026February 9, 2026
India is set to redefine the global artificial intelligence narrative as it hosts the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi from February 16 to 20. Marking a historic first, the summit will be the world’s largest global AI gathering hosted in the Global South, drawing participation from more than 100 countries, top policymakers, global technology leaders, and academic experts.

Anchored in India’s development philosophy of “Welfare for All” and the global ideal of “AI for Humanity,” the summit moves beyond dialogue to measurable outcomes. It seeks to align innovation, governance, and sustainability while ensuring artificial intelligence serves people, protects the planet, and accelerates inclusive progress.

Three Sutras Guiding Global AI Cooperation

The summit is built around three foundational principles, referred to as Sutras, that define India’s vision for responsible artificial intelligence. The first, People, focuses on human-centric AI that enhances trust, safeguards rights, and expands access to essential services. The second, Planet, promotes environmentally responsible AI systems that support climate action and sustainable resource use.

The third Sutra, Progress, underscores inclusive economic growth through innovation, skill development, and productivity enhancement. Together, these principles form the ethical backbone of the summit and guide international cooperation on emerging technologies.

The Seven Chakras of AI Impact

At the heart of the India–AI Impact Summit are seven thematic Chakras, or working groups, each translating the Sutras into concrete policy and implementation pathways. These Chakras represent interconnected domains where artificial intelligence can deliver measurable social, economic, and scientific impact.

The Human Capital Chakra focuses on preparing societies for an AI-driven future of work through equitable skilling and workforce transitions. Inclusion for Social Empowerment advances AI systems that reflect linguistic, cultural, and social diversity. Safe and Trusted AI addresses transparency, accountability, and global trust in AI deployment.

Other Chakras include Science, which accelerates AI-enabled research collaboration; Resilience, Innovation and Efficiency, which promotes sustainable and climate-conscious AI; Democratising AI Resources, aimed at equitable access to data and compute; and AI for Economic Development and Social Good, which scales AI solutions for real-world outcomes.

India’s Talent and Skilling Advantage

India’s expanding AI talent base anchors the Human Capital Chakra. The country ranks among the global leaders in AI skill penetration, with AI talent concentration growing more than threefold since 2016. According to the Stanford AI Index 2025, India leads global AI hiring growth at nearly 33 percent annually.

Through the IndiaAI FutureSkills programme, the government is supporting hundreds of PhD scholars and thousands of postgraduate and undergraduate students in AI research and training. These initiatives are strengthening domestic capabilities while aligning India’s workforce with global AI standards.

Inclusive AI for Social Empowerment

India’s digital public infrastructure enables AI-driven inclusion at scale. Platforms such as BHASHINI support voice-based digital access across dozens of Indian languages, while AI tools like Kisan e-Mitra provide farmers with real-time assistance in regional languages.

The proposed Bharat-VISTAAR platform, announced in the Union Budget 2026–27, aims to integrate agricultural data and AI-based advisories, expanding access to scientific decision-making for farmers. These initiatives demonstrate how inclusive design can translate AI innovation into tangible social outcomes.

Safe, Trusted and Sustainable AI

Ensuring responsible AI deployment remains central to India’s approach. The establishment of the IndiaAI Safety Institute and the rollout of national AI governance guidelines signal India’s commitment to transparency and accountability. These frameworks aim to balance innovation with safeguards, reinforcing public trust.

Parallelly, investments in efficient AI infrastructure are accelerating. Global technology firms are expanding data centres and AI hubs across India, while indigenous innovation continues to grow, positioning the country as a resilient and sustainable AI ecosystem.

From Dialogue to Delivery

The India–AI Impact Summit 2026 positions India as a convenor of global AI cooperation, bridging developed and developing economies. With participation expected from heads of government, international ministers, and industry leaders, the summit reflects India’s rising role in shaping global technology governance.

By aligning policy, innovation, and public purpose through the Seven Chakras and Three Sutras, the summit marks a shift from vision to implementation. It reinforces India’s commitment to responsible, inclusive, and development-focused artificial intelligence for the world.
