India and Australia convened the 5th India-Australia Energy Dialogue on 16 October 2025 in New Delhi, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable energy cooperation. The meeting was co-chaired by Shri Manohar Lal, Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, and Mr. Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Commonwealth Government of Australia.
Comprehensive Engagement Across Ministries
The Indian delegation, representing the Ministries of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mines, and Coal, presented detailed progress reports and future cooperation pathways. Joint Working Groups highlighted collaborative projects, emphasizing practical strategies to transition to net-zero emissions while ensuring secure and diversified energy supply chains.
Green Hydrogen and Energy Efficiency Focus
Ministers discussed the role of green hydrogen in future energy systems and promoted dialogue on energy efficiency and enabling technologies. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to reliable trading partnerships in energy resources, aiming to strengthen resilience and sustainability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Shri Manohar Lal and Mr. Chris Bowen highlighted the pivotal role of India–Australia cooperation in advancing robust, secure, and sustainable energy systems. The dialogue underscored shared priorities such as renewable energy adoption, technological innovation, and collaborative frameworks for climate resilience.
Way Forward
Officials agreed to continue focused collaboration through the Joint Working Groups and to develop actionable roadmaps for clean energy, hydrogen deployment, and energy efficiency programs. This ongoing engagement strengthens bilateral ties and supports regional energy security, sustainability, and climate commitments.
