India Beats Australia by 48 Runs, Leads T20 Series 2-1

RR Team, November 6, 2025November 6, 2025
India registered a comprehensive 48-run victory over Australia in the fourth T20 International at the Carrara Oval, Queensland, on Thursday, taking a decisive 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The Men in Blue produced a dominant all-round performance, highlighted by Washington Sundar’s magical three-wicket burst and Shubman Gill’s composed 46-run innings.

India’s Steady Batting Effort Sets Up the Match

After being asked to bat first by Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh, India posted 167/8 in their 20 overs. Shubman Gill led from the front with a confident 46, supported by handy cameos from Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav. Despite losing wickets in quick succession toward the end, India managed a defendable total on a slow, turning pitch.

Australian bowlers Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis were impressive with the ball, taking crucial wickets and restricting India’s acceleration in the death overs.

Washington Sundar’s Magic Spell Seals the Win

Australia’s chase never took off as Indian bowlers struck early. Axar Patel and Shivam Dube provided key breakthroughs before Washington Sundar turned the match on its head. In just eight deliveries, Sundar dismissed Marcus Stoinis, Bartlett, and Zampa, conceding only three runs.

Australia was eventually bowled out for just 119 in 18.2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah grabbed his 99th T20I wicket, while Varun Chakravarthy also chipped in with a crucial dismissal of Glenn Maxwell. The disciplined Indian bowling unit ensured that Australia never came close to the target.

India Takes 2-1 Lead Ahead of Series Decider

The victory gave India an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series, with one game left at The Gabba. The result means Australia can now only hope to level the series. The win also showcased India’s depth and balance in both batting and bowling, with several young players stepping up under pressure.

Speaking after the match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav praised his team’s composure: “We wanted to execute our plans well, and the bowlers did an excellent job. Sundar’s spell changed the game completely.”

Looking Ahead: Final T20 at The Gabba

The final T20I will be played at Brisbane’s iconic Gabba Stadium, where both sides will look to finish the series on a high. For India, it’s a chance to seal another overseas series win, while Australia will be eager to avoid a home series loss.
