India Launches AI Responsibility Pledge Drive

In a major push toward ethical and inclusive Artificial Intelligence adoption, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will roll out a nationwide AI Responsibility Pledge campaign on February 16–17, 2026. The digital initiative aims to mobilise citizens across India to commit to responsible AI practices while attempting to secure a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title.
The campaign, titled “Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours,” will be launched under the IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with Intel India. The drive coincides with the inauguration of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Attempt at Guinness World Records Title

The initiative will officially attempt the Guinness World Records™ title for the highest number of pledges received within 24 hours for an AI responsibility campaign. Officials say the effort reflects India’s ambition to create a trustworthy and human-centric AI ecosystem.

The Ministry has designed the campaign as an interactive awareness initiative, encouraging participants to reflect on responsible AI usage before submitting their pledge.

Interactive and Accessible Format

The AI Responsibility Pledge platform incorporates short scenario-based questions that prompt users to think critically about ethical AI usage, data privacy, accountability and misinformation challenges. After completing the process, participants will receive a digital honorary badge issued jointly by IndiaAI and Intel India.

In addition, participants will gain access to curated government-led AI learning pathways aimed at strengthening awareness and digital literacy.

The initiative has been structured to ensure ease of access across demographics and regions. It does not require microphone or camera permissions, and there are no qualifying marks or eligibility barriers, making participation open to all citizens.

How to Participate

Citizens can take part by visiting the official pledge portal and completing a simple registration process. Participation will be verified through OTP authentication via email ID or mobile number.

After engaging with the scenario-based awareness questions, users can submit the formal AI Responsibility Pledge. The process has been designed to be quick, user-friendly and inclusive.

Wide Outreach Across Sectors

The campaign invites participation from students, educators, parents, government officials, public sector representatives, industry professionals, startups and civil society members. A strong focus has been placed on youth engagement to build early awareness of responsible AI usage.

Organisers believe that large-scale citizen participation will help reinforce public trust in emerging technologies while strengthening India’s position as a global leader in responsible AI governance.

Part of India AI Impact Summit 2026

The AI Responsibility Pledge campaign forms a central citizen-engagement pillar of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 16–20 at Bharat Mandapam. The Summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The event is expected to bring together Heads of State, global policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, startups and academia under the guiding pillars of People, Planet and Progress. Discussions will focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence for inclusive and development-oriented growth.

Through collaborative efforts between government and industry, India aims to set a historic benchmark in responsible AI engagement. The nationwide pledge drive represents a step toward embedding ethical principles into the country’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.

As Artificial Intelligence continues to shape governance, business and daily life, initiatives such as this pledge campaign underscore the importance of accountability, transparency and citizen participation in shaping the future of technology.
