Deepening Agricultural Trade
During the meeting, both leaders explored ways to expand India’s agricultural exports to Russia and improve market access for key products. Shri Chouhan emphasized India’s priorities in ensuring food security, raising farmer incomes, and promoting access to safe and nutritious food for all citizens. He underscored that international collaboration is pivotal for the welfare of farmers and global food security, reflecting the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family.
Mr. Dmitry Patrushev highlighted the longstanding cooperation between the two nations and expressed Russia’s interest in formalizing agricultural partnerships through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both sides agreed to prioritize balanced trade, technical collaboration, and the timely resolution of outstanding issues affecting agricultural commerce.
Collaboration in Education and Technology
The leaders also discussed academic exchanges and scholarship programs for students in the agriculture sector. Joint initiatives in seed traceability systems and technology-driven solutions were explored to foster innovation, enhance research, and support sustainable agricultural practices. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to promoting inclusive growth and leveraging technology for the development of agriculture.

The Russian delegation included Mr. Maksim Markovich, Deputy Minister of Agriculture; Mr. Denis Alipov, Ambassador of Russia to India; and Mr. Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance. Representing India were Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Devesh Chaturvedi; Additional Secretaries from the Ministry of External Affairs; Joint Secretaries from the International Cooperation Division and Plant Protection; and senior officials from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, and related agencies.
