India Shines at WorldSkills Asia 2025 With 8th-Place Debut

RR Team, November 30, 2025December 1, 2025
India marked a proud moment on the global skills map by securing an impressive 8th-place finish during its first-ever participation in the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC) 2025. Held among 29 countries across the continent, the event showcased some of the best emerging skills talent in Asia. India’s debut performance highlighted the country’s rising strength in skills training, youth innovation, and global-standard technical excellence.
The Indian contingent, guided by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), consisted of 23 competitors who participated across 21 skill categories. They were supported by 21 experts who mentored them throughout months of rigorous preparation. The team’s discipline and confidence resulted in India winning one Silver, two Bronze medals, and three Medallions for Excellence an exceptional achievement for a debut performance.

Medal Wins Across Emerging Skills

India’s achievements spanned both traditional skills and cutting-edge, technology-driven domains. The medal honours included:

  • Silver – Painting & Decorating: Muskan
  • Bronze – Industrial Design Technology: Komal Panda
  • Bronze – Robot System Integration: Shivam Singh & Dinesh R
  • Medallion for Excellence – Software Application Development for Business: Mohamed Mafaz P R
  • Medallion for Excellence – Web Technologies: Aditya Nandan
  • Medallion for Excellence – Electrical Installations: Dhanush M G

Women competitors played a remarkable role this year, securing top performances in several categories. Their success reflects the growing contribution of women to India’s skill ecosystem and rising participation in non-traditional, tech-forward sectors.

Youth Excellence Backed by Strong Training Ecosystem

The competitors were selected through the IndiaSkills National Competition 2024, a nationwide initiative that filters top talent for global events. After qualifying, they underwent specialised training with leading academic institutions, Sector Skill Councils, and global mentors. This industry-led preparation ensured that competitors met world-class benchmarks in time for WSAC 2025.

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, praised the team’s performance, stating that India’s achievements reflect the creativity and discipline of its youth. He emphasised that skills are not merely tools for employability but drivers of national progress. He congratulated the competitors and trainers for bringing pride to the country through dedication and excellence.

India’s Growing Global Skills Presence

India’s strong debut at WSAC 2025 signals a major step forward in its ambition to become a global hub of skilled talent. The country’s continuous rise in international skills competitions demonstrates the impact of national skilling schemes, industry collaborations, and large-scale talent development programmes.

With preparations already underway for upcoming global skill championships, India is building momentum powered by its young workforce and robust training pathways. The collaborative efforts of trainers, industry partners, and government bodies are helping create a future-ready talent pool capable of competing at global standards.

WorldSkills Asia 2025: A Platform of Innovation

The third edition of the WorldSkills Asia Competition brought together over 500 competitors from 29 Asian member and guest nations. Participants competed across 44 skill categories, ranging from information technology and industrial trades to design, robotics, and construction.

The competition not only promoted skill development but also supported regional cooperation, tourism, and educational exchange.

India’s inaugural success sends a strong message: the nation’s skilled youth are ready to excel on the world stage, powered by determination, innovation, and an increasingly strong national skilling ecosystem.
