India Shines With 10 Medals at Asian Archery 2025

RR Team, November 17, 2025November 17, 2025
New Delhi — Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian archery contingent after the team delivered its most successful campaign ever at the Asian Archery Championships 2025, bringing home a record 10 medals, including six golds and a historic men’s recurve gold after an 18-year gap. The strong showing underlines India’s rising stature in continental archery and has been widely celebrated across sports circles and social media.

Medal tally and standout achievements

The Indian team finished the championships with 10 medals in total — six gold, three silver and one bronze — marking the nation’s best-ever medal haul at this continental event. Notably, India ended South Korea’s long dominance in the recurve men’s category, clinching the individual gold after 18 years, and produced strong performances across both recurve and compound disciplines. Individual winners and medalists drew praise for composure, precision and tactical maturity throughout the tournament.

Historic recurve gold and team depth

The landmark men’s recurve victory — described in many accounts as a turning point — symbolises India’s growing depth in Olympic-style archery. Alongside recurve success, Indian compound archers successfully defended titles and secured podium finishes, reflecting a balanced development across formats. Coaches and federation officials credited sustained investment in high-performance coaching, athlete exposure abroad and improved domestic competitions for the breakthrough.

Prime Minister’s message and national reaction

On social platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi lauded the team’s effort: “Congratulations to our Archery team on their best ever performance at the Asian Archery Championships 2025. They have brought home 10 medals, including 6 Golds…this is a very special feat, which will motivate many upcoming athletes.” The Prime Minister’s message echoed across sports ministries and fan communities, triggering congratulatory notes from state governments and fellow athletes.

What this means for Indian archery

Experts say the championship haul has both short- and long-term implications. In the near term, the results will boost athlete confidence ahead of World Championships and Olympic qualification windows. Over the long term, the success strengthens India’s case for deeper funding, larger training camps and broader grassroots outreach to identify and nurture talent across regions — particularly in states where archery holds traditional roots.

Voices from the camp

Team coaches highlighted consistent technical refinement and mental conditioning as keys to the performance. Several medal-winners credited national coaching camps and competition exposure for improving match temperament. Federation officials pointed to systematic selection processes and sports-science interventions that helped athletes peak at the championships.

Looking ahead

With this breakthrough at the Asian level, India will aim to translate continental success into global podiums. Upcoming targets include the World Archery events and multi-sport qualifiers that shape the road to Paris and beyond. The federation has signalled plans to consolidate gains by expanding international exposure and strengthening support systems for upcoming archers.
