The Government of India has entered into MoUs and agreements with 23 countries for cooperation on India Stack and Digital Public Infrastructure. These partnerships aim to facilitate replication and adoption of India’s digital governance models in areas such as digital identity, digital payments, data exchange, and service delivery.
The countries include Armenia, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Antigua and Barbuda, Papua New Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago, Tanzania, Kenya, Cuba, Colombia, Lao PDR, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Gambia, Fiji, Guyana, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Lesotho, Maldives, and Mongolia.
These collaborations form a key pillar of India’s DPI diplomacy, reflecting New Delhi’s commitment to supporting digital transformation in friendly nations through open, scalable, and interoperable platforms.
UPI Emerges as a Global Digital Payments Leader
India’s flagship digital payments platform, the Unified Payments Interface, is now operational in more than eight countries, including the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius, and Qatar. The international rollout of UPI has enhanced cross-border payments, simplified remittances, and expanded financial inclusion.
UPI’s growing acceptance reflects global trust in India’s fintech innovation and regulatory frameworks. It has also positioned India as a thought leader in building low-cost, real-time payment systems for both developed and developing economies.
DigiLocker and Digital Solutions Shared Globally
In addition to UPI, India has signed specific MoUs with Cuba, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, and Lao People’s Democratic Republic for DigiLocker. The platform enables secure storage, access, and sharing of authenticated digital documents, reducing paperwork and improving service delivery.
India has also launched platforms such as IndiaStack Global to showcase its digital solutions and facilitate adoption by partner countries. The portal provides access to 18 key digital platforms developed in India.
India’s Leadership in Global DPI Knowledge Sharing
The Global DPI Repository, launched during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023 and accessible at dpi.global, serves as a global knowledge hub for Digital Public Infrastructure. India remains the largest contributor to the repository, reinforcing its leadership in this domain.
India’s DPI ecosystem includes platforms such as Aadhaar, CoWIN, DigiLocker, UMANG, GeM, e-Sanjeevani, DIKSHA, eCourts, PM GatiShakti, and PFMS, which collectively demonstrate the scale and versatility of its digital governance architecture.
Strengthening India’s Global Digital Footprint
By sharing its Digital Public Infrastructure with the world, India is not only exporting technology but also its governance philosophy centered on inclusion, transparency, and citizen empowerment. These initiatives are expected to deepen bilateral ties, promote digital capacity building, and create new avenues for collaboration in fintech, e-governance, and public service delivery.
