In a powerful stride towards global wellness leadership, India reaffirmed its commitment to promoting holistic and integrative healthcare through the South Regional Summit on Ayush Medical Value Travel, held in Chennai today. The event brought together thought leaders, government officials, and industry experts in a shared vision to make India a trusted destination for natural, preventive, and patient-centric healing.
Union Minister of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, addressed the gathering with heartfelt conviction, urging states to adopt wellness models that reflect both India’s ancient healing traditions and modern healthcare standards. Emphasizing the importance of systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy, he reminded attendees that the world, especially in a post-pandemic era, is increasingly turning toward safe, evidence-based, and sustainable healthcare options.
“Together, let us strengthen India’s leadership in Ayush-based Medical Value Travel and contribute to global health and economic growth,” Shri Jadhav said, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India as a global wellness hub.
The summit theme—‘Ayush Medical Value Travel – Promoting Wellness, Strengthening Global Ties’—was reflected throughout the day’s discussions and deliberations. With over 1,600 Ayush Visas issued to citizens from more than 75 countries, the message was clear: the world is looking to India for authentic, holistic healthcare experiences.
Southern India’s rich landscape of wellness practices—be it Panchakarma centers in Kerala, Siddha institutions in Tamil Nadu, naturopathy centers in Karnataka, or the growing infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry—served as a backdrop and a model for the rest of the country.
Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Sri Satya Kumar Yadav, in his keynote, acknowledged the transformative impact Ayush systems can have in uplifting not only India’s healthcare but also its economy and global standing. Ms. Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Ayush, highlighted how India is making it easier for international patients to access traditional treatments, while ensuring global standards through quality assurance, clinical standardization, and digital integration.
More than 325 delegates participated in the summit, including representatives from Ayush colleges, research institutes, wellness resorts, spas, health-tech startups, and medical tourism professionals. The collaboration between government and industry, particularly during panel sessions, demonstrated a unified approach to promoting integrative healthcare and expanding India’s outreach as a wellness destination.
Key institutions such as Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, SKM Siddha & Ayurveda, and Niraamaya Retreats contributed their insights, calling for stronger coordination, patient satisfaction standards, and global branding of Ayush therapies.
The summit concluded on a note of hope and purpose—with a call to ensure quality, safety, and a compassionate approach to care, so that the healing wisdom of India can truly touch lives across the world.
