Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to field. India got off to an aggressive start with opener Abhishek Sharma scoring 19 off 14 before becoming the lone wicket to fall.
Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav played a fluent unbeaten 39 off 24, while Shubman Gill stood firm with 37 not out off 20. The pair added 62 runs in quick time.
Second Rain Delay & Match Called Off
The match was initially reduced to 18 overs per side after a rain interruption. Later, further rain and the time lost in ground recovery forced the umpires to abandon the contest.
With less than five overs bowled in Australia’s innings and no chance to restart under the time and floodlight constraints, the game officially ended without a result.

While the wash-out disappointed fans and players alike, India leave Canberra with positives from their batting display. Both teams now shift focus to the second T20I scheduled in Melbourne on October 31.
