Indian Railways Celebrates Constitution Day Across Zones

On 26 November 2025, Indian Railways commemorated Constitution Day with a series of events across its zones and divisions, reaffirming its commitment to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution of India. The central ceremony was held at Railway Board Headquarters, Rail Bhawan, where Chairman & CEO Shri Satish Kumar, along with senior officials and employees, recited the Preamble and pledged to preserve national unity and integrity.
In addition to the on-ground ceremonies, digital participation was emphasized. Railway officers and staff engaged in an online quiz on constitutional democracy via MyGov.in and Constitution75.com, while also reading the Preamble online and obtaining certificates as part of the observance.

Zone-wise Celebrations

Across the country, railway zones conducted their own commemorative events. Central Railway observed Constitution Day at CSMT Heritage Headquarters, where Additional GM Shri Prateek Goswami led the Preamble reading. Similarly, East Coast Railway’s General Manager Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal and West Railway’s GM Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta conducted ceremonies with active participation of officers and staff.

West Central Railway, North Central Railway (across Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra divisions), and South Western Railway at Rail Soudha, Hubballi also hosted events where the Preamble was collectively read and employees pledged to uphold constitutional values.

Significance of Constitution Day

Constitution Day marks the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. Declared an official observance by the Government of India in 2015, the day honors the sacred document and emphasizes the principles of democracy, equality, and justice. Indian Railways’ celebrations highlight its commitment to fostering constitutional awareness and ethical governance among its employees and stakeholders nationwide.
