Indian Railways Marks Key Milestones in Special Drive

RR Team, October 18, 2025October 17, 2025
Indian Railways has reported remarkable achievements at the midpoint of its Special Campaign 5.0, an initiative aimed at institutionalising cleanliness, administrative reforms, and citizen engagement across all railway zones and divisions. The campaign, launched by the Government of India, runs from October 2 to October 31, 2025.

Cleanliness Drives and Waste Management

So far, the Ministry has successfully conducted 29,921 cleanliness campaigns at railway stations, offices, and other premises. These initiatives not only promote hygiene but also generate resources. Railways has earned ₹235 crore through scrap disposal and freed up 1.45 lakh square feet of office space. Innovative approaches are being employed to turn scrap into attractive models, while special focus is given to e-waste management to ensure sustainable disposal.

Administrative Reforms and File Management

In alignment with administrative efficiency, over 50,000 files have been reviewed, resulting in the closure or weeding out of 20,277 obsolete files. This streamlining ensures better workflow and record management. Moreover, 1.37 lakh public grievances have been resolved, reflecting Indian Railways’ commitment to prompt, citizen-centric service delivery.

Public Engagement through Amrit Samvad

The Ministry has strengthened direct engagement with citizens by organizing more than 400 Amrit Samvad interactions across multiple railway stations. These dialogues facilitate real-time feedback from passengers, helping authorities address concerns and improve service quality.

Turning Milestones into Momentum

These mid-campaign results demonstrate the dedication of railway personnel in promoting cleanliness, administrative efficiency, and citizen satisfaction. As the Special Campaign 5.0 progresses toward its conclusion on October 31, 2025, the Ministry aims to sustain and expand these initiatives to further enhance operational efficiency and public engagement.
