Indian Railways Promotes Women’s World Cup Stars to OSD

RR Team, December 1, 2025December 2, 2025
In a landmark move recognizing sporting excellence, Indian Railways has promoted three key members of India’s victorious 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup squad  Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Renuka Singh Thakur  to the prestigious post of Officer on Special Duty (Sports) in Group ‘B’ through Out-of-Turn Promotion.
The promotion entitles the cricketers to the pay and benefits of a Group ‘B’ Gazetted Officer under Level-8 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC. Beyond financial security, the move also entrusts them with administrative responsibilities within the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).

Felicitations and Recognition

Earlier in November, the trio was felicitated at Rail Bhawan by Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, who holds portfolios of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology. The felicitation celebrated their instrumental roles in India’s triumphant World Cup campaign.

Profiles of Promoted Cricketers

Pratika Rawal, an opening batter from Delhi and previously serving as a Senior Clerk in Northern Railway, played a crucial role in India’s World Cup victories. She now joins the ranks of OSD (Sports) with full administrative and financial benefits.

Renuka Singh Thakur, a right-arm medium-fast bowler from Himachal Pradesh, was a consistent match-winner for India. Formerly a Junior Clerk in Northern Railway, she is now promoted to the Group ‘B’ Gazetted OSD (Sports) position.

Sneh Rana, an all-rounder from Uttarakhand, contributed significantly with both bat and ball during the World Cup. Previously a Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (CCTC) in Northern Railway, she too assumes the OSD (Sports) role, marking a milestone in her career.

Indian Railways’ Commitment to Sports

Indian Railways has long supported and nurtured sporting talent, offering opportunities for athletes to represent the nation globally. This promotion reinforces the organization’s commitment to rewarding sporting excellence while integrating players into administrative roles, ensuring sustained professional growth.
