India’s Olympic Roadmap Unveiled at Khelo Bharat

RR Team, July 17, 2025July 17, 2025

India took a major step forward in its journey to becoming a global sporting powerhouse at the Khelo Bharat Conclave 2025. Held in New Delhi, the one-day brainstorming session saw key stakeholders unite to discuss India’s path to the 2036 Olympics and beyond.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, delivered a powerful keynote address. He called on all stakeholders to “shed egos” and “put the nation first” to help India break into the top 10 Olympic nations.

A United Vision for India’s Sporting Future

More than just a conference, the conclave served as a platform for collaboration. It brought together the Indian Olympic Association, Paralympic Committee of India, National Sports Federations (NSFs), top sports administrators, corporates, and senior officials.

Everyone echoed the same message — India must work together to achieve its Olympic dreams by 2047, marking 100 years of independence.

Khelo Bharat Niti 2025: A Strategic Blueprint

The Khelo Bharat Niti 2025 is at the heart of India’s sporting revolution. Dr. Mandaviya explained that this new policy will drive change at all levels. From schools to elite Olympic Training Centres, every layer will play a role.

The policy outlines a 10-year medal roadmap, emphasizing athlete welfare, good governance, and commercial opportunities like sports tourism. It includes talent scouting, coach development, infrastructure upgrades, and anti-doping measures.

Governance Reforms and Accountability

One major highlight of the conclave was the upcoming National Sports Governance Bill. It aims to reform how sports federations operate and hold them accountable for results.

Dr. Mandaviya urged every National Sports Federation to submit a five-year strategy by August. He warned that funding would soon become performance-based.

“We are serious about this. We will support, but we also expect results,” he asserted.

Corporate and State Partnerships

The One Corporate One Sport initiative was introduced as a game-changer. Under this model, companies will adopt specific sports to provide resources, training, and promotion.

States, schools, and corporations will also sign formal agreements with the Centre to ensure long-term success. This public-private partnership model is expected to boost investment and outreach significantly.

From Schools to Olympic Podiums

The policy envisions a three-tier talent development pyramid. It starts at the grassroots with sports-integrated schools. Promising athletes then move to intermediate training hubs, and finally to elite Olympic centres.

This structure will ensure that talent isn’t lost and each athlete has a clear pathway to the top.

Empowering Youth and Building Careers

Union Minister of State, Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, spoke about the wider impact of the policy. She said sports can be a source of jobs, pride, and entertainment for India’s youth.

“This is not just about medals. It’s about nation-building,” she stated.

Interactive Sessions Yield Valuable Insights

Throughout the six-hour event, participants engaged in lively discussions and workshops. Presentations covered:

  • Sports Governance Reforms
  • Khelo Bharat Niti 2025 Overview
  • Medal-Winning Strategies
  • Corporate Participation Models

All suggestions were recorded by senior ministry officials for implementation.

Conclusion: Towards a Viksit Bharat Through Sports

Dr. Mandaviya’s message was clear: India’s time is now. With the right blend of policy, passion, and partnerships, India can become a top-tier Olympic nation.

“Sports is not just about playing. It’s about purpose, pride, and power,” he concluded.
