India’s Wellness Startups Blend Tradition with Innovation

RR Team, June 27, 2025June 27, 2025

Introduction: A Cultural Renaissance in Health

On June 26, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated India’s deep cultural roots in health and wellness. In a reply to Mann Ki Baat Updates on platform X, he highlighted how Indian traditions continue to guide people toward a healthy, balanced life.

He especially praised a wellness startup that merges ancient practices with modern science. This startup reflects a rising movement in India—new-age businesses using traditional methods like Ayurveda and Yoga, powered by data and innovation.

India’s Time-Tested Wellness Wisdom

For centuries, India has followed holistic ways to care for both body and mind. Practices such as Yoga, meditation, herbal remedies, and clean diets have shaped the country’s wellness philosophy. These methods focus not just on curing illness, but also on preventing it.

Ayurveda, India’s traditional medical science, encourages seasonal routines and custom diets. Today, startups bring these old ideas back to life through apps, nutrition platforms, and wellness diagnostics. They’re keeping the soul of Ayurveda intact while adapting it for modern users.

Startups Revive Tradition with Technology

India’s wellness startup scene is booming. Brands like Nutrify India, Jiva Ayurveda, Tata Soulfull, and Cureveda are redefining how health is approached. These companies mix local knowledge with digital tools to create effective wellness solutions.

One startup mentioned during Mann Ki Baat stands out. While its name wasn’t shared, its work tells a bigger story—using AI for Ayurvedic consultations, designing eco-friendly yoga gear, and offering herbal products tested by modern labs.

These businesses don’t just keep tradition alive. They give it credibility with science and meet the needs of a global market seeking natural and sustainable wellness.

Government Support for Holistic Health

The Indian government continues to back this wellness revolution. Programs like AYUSH, Startup India, and Digital India offer funding, infrastructure, and standardization. These initiatives help Indian wellness startups grow and gain international attention.

PM Modi himself has been a strong advocate. His efforts around International Yoga Day have helped project India’s image as a global wellness leader.

“Indian culture offers many ways to remain fit and healthy,” Modi tweeted. “In #MannKiBaat, we’ve been showcasing such efforts…”

India’s Wellness Goes Global

India’s wellness products now reach markets around the world. Global interest in Ayurveda, Yoga, and organic Indian foods is growing fast. As per IBEF, India’s wellness market may reach $70 billion by 2026, driven by tradition-backed innovation.

Even tech giants are taking notice. Google and Apple have added yoga and meditation features to their platforms. This shows how Indian wellness ideas are influencing the world.

Conclusion: A Startup-Led Wellness Revolution

In a fast-paced world, India’s ancient approach to health feels more relevant than ever. Startups are leading this change—presenting old wisdom with modern tools. They make wellness easy to access, reliable, and global.

PM Modi’s message reminds us that our past holds solutions for the future. With continued support and creativity, India’s wellness culture can not only heal its people but also inspire the world.
