INS Vikrant, INS Udaygiri Shine at Sri Lanka IFR 2025

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, accompanied by the indigenously built frigate INS Udaygiri, is representing the Indian Navy at the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025 hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy in Colombo from 27 to 29 November 2025. The event is a highlight of the Sri Lanka Navy’s 75th anniversary celebrations, featuring naval delegations, ships, and observers from multiple countries.
This deployment marks the maiden overseas visit for both ships and underscores India’s commitment to regional maritime security and cooperation. INS Vikrant’s participation emphasizes India’s growing role in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and showcases the nation’s indigenous naval capabilities on an international platform.

INS Udaygiri, recently commissioned, further highlights India’s advancing shipbuilding prowess and balanced naval expansion. The dual participation reinforces India’s strategic objective to promote peace, stability, and security through enhanced interoperability and collaboration with partner navies.

During the IFR, the Indian ships will actively participate in ceremonial fleet reviews, city parades, and professional naval interactions. Public outreach initiatives include ship visits for civilians, highlighting transparency and fostering goodwill among regional communities.

The Indian Navy’s presence at IFR 2025 aligns with India’s policy of strengthening regional partnerships and enhancing maritime security in the Indo-Pacific. It demonstrates the Navy’s readiness to engage in multilateral exercises, build trust among partner nations, and contribute to a stable maritime environment.

The maiden deployment of INS Vikrant and INS Udaygiri at an international fleet review serves as a testament to India’s commitment to indigenous defence production, operational excellence, and cooperative security initiatives across the Indian Ocean Region.
