Global Participation and Collaboration
The event is organized by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with MEGNOLIA, APEDA, IFOAM–Organics Asia, and supported by NERAMAC. Distinguished dignitaries present at the inauguration included Shri Satinder Kumar Bhalla, Secretary, North Eastern Council; Dr Vijay Kumar D, Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Meghalaya; Shri Abhishek Dev, Chairman, APEDA; Dr Shakil P. Ahammed, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya; and several other national and international delegates.
Showcasing Northeast India’s Organic Potential
Speaking at the event, Shri Abhishek Dev highlighted the growing global visibility of Northeast India’s organic produce. “The first edition of the Northeast India Organic Meet has attracted stakeholders from 22 countries, reflecting strong international interest in the region’s organic potential,” he said. The event aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and strengthen global market linkages for organic products from Meghalaya and the Northeastern states.
Future Plans and Global Opportunities
Shri Dev emphasized that the event is envisioned to become an annual gathering hosted by different Northeastern states to enhance regional organic value chains worldwide. He encouraged local farmers, FPOs, and stakeholders to participate in international forums like BIOFACH, where India is a partner country, to showcase their produce globally.
Focus on Sustainability and Youth Leadership
The international program integrates B2B sessions, cultural exchanges, and field visits to encourage sustainable and regenerative agriculture. The summit also fosters youth leadership by providing a platform for international dialogue, exchange of ideas, and capacity building among young professionals in the organic sector.

By bringing together global buyers, organic experts, and youth delegates, the event marks a key milestone in strengthening Northeast India’s presence in the global organic market.
