It was a morning of sweat, solidarity, and sincere appreciation—a true salute to the indomitable spirit of India’s soldiers.

In a heartfelt tribute to the courage and sacrifice of India’s Armed Forces, over 5,000 people came together on April 20, 2025, at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in New Delhi for the inaugural edition of Soldierathon – ‘Run for Soldiers and Run with Soldiers’. The event was more than just a run; it was a moving display of unity, gratitude, and national pride that brought together soldiers, veterans, civilians, students, and fitness enthusiasts under one noble cause.

Jointly organised by Army Hospital (R&R) and Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, Soldierathon aimed to honour the spirit and resilience of the brave men and women who protect the nation. Participants had the unique opportunity to run alongside Indian soldiers, drawing strength from their unwavering discipline and sense of duty. The event featured three inclusive race formats—a 10 km timed run, a 5 km fun run, and a 3 km walk—making it accessible for all age groups and fitness levels.

The atmosphere was charged with emotion and patriotism as the event was flagged off by General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd), Governor of Mizoram, in the presence of the Chief of the Naval Staff, the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, senior officers from the Armed Forces Medical Services, and the Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R). Their presence underscored the deep respect and recognition owed to those who serve.

Beyond the symbolic gesture of running, the event had a powerful mission—raising funds for the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Kirkee, Pune. This centre plays a vital role in the rehabilitation and care of soldiers who have suffered life-altering injuries while in service. The overwhelming turnout and generous spirit of participants reflected the nation’s collective gratitude and desire to give back to its real heroes.‌

The first Soldierathon stood out as a shining example of how a community can come together not just to celebrate fitness, but also to acknowledge the extraordinary sacrifices made by its defenders. It was a morning of sweat, solidarity, and sincere appreciation—a true salute to the indomitable spirit of India’s soldiers.
