‘Jai Shivaji, Jai Bharat’ Padyatra to Mark Shivaji Jayanti in Satara

Satara, February 18: To honour the birth anniversary of Rashtranayak Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), will organise the ‘Jai Shivaji, Jai Bharat’ Padyatra on February 19, 2026, at Satara. The event aims to inspire India’s youth with Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals of courage, swarajya, and people-centric governance.
The padyatra will be a central highlight of Shivaji Jayanti celebrations across Maharashtra, with youth participation expected from all 36 districts. The initiative seeks to connect young citizens with the enduring legacy of Shivaji Maharaj, whose vision of self-rule and inclusive governance continues to resonate in modern India.

Statewide Celebrations

Beyond Satara, the celebrations will extend across Maharashtra, where youth groups and cultural organisations will host events to commemorate Shivaji Jayanti. These include traditional processions, cultural performances, and discussions on Shivaji Maharaj’s contributions to nation-building.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has emphasised that the padyatra is not merely symbolic but a call to action for India’s Yuva Shakti. By retracing the steps of history at Satara, participants will reaffirm their commitment to values of justice, courage, and community welfare.

Legacy of Shivaji Maharaj

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, revered as the architect of Swarajya, remains a timeless icon of leadership and resilience. His governance model, rooted in fairness, inclusivity, and people’s welfare, continues to inspire policymakers and citizens alike. The padyatra is designed to remind the youth of these principles and encourage them to embody Shivaji’s vision in contemporary India.

Organisers have highlighted that the event will also showcase Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage, blending traditional music, folk art, and historical narratives to create an immersive experience for participants.

National Significance

While the padyatra is centred in Satara, its message extends nationwide. MY Bharat has called upon youth across India to draw inspiration from Shivaji Maharaj’s life and contribute to building a stronger, self-reliant nation. The initiative underscores the role of young citizens in shaping India’s future, echoing Shivaji’s belief in empowering people to lead with courage and responsibility.
