Inspection of Potato Cold Storage in Hathras
Later in the day, Shri Oram travelled to Bas Amru village in the Sadabad Assembly constituency of Hathras district. There, he inspected a potato cold storage facility that plays a crucial role in preserving agricultural produce for farmers in the region.
During the inspection, the Minister reviewed storage arrangements, cold chain systems, and operational facilities. He directed officials and the management to prioritise farmers’ interests, enhance storage capacity, and maintain transparency in day-to-day functioning.
Hathras is known for its significant potato cultivation, and adequate cold storage infrastructure is critical to prevent post-harvest losses and stabilise prices. The visit highlighted the importance of strengthening agricultural supply chains in rural Uttar Pradesh.
Interaction with Farmers and Local Residents
Shri Oram also interacted with local residents and potato farmers at the facility. Farmers raised issues related to fair pricing of their produce, expansion of storage infrastructure, and effective implementation of government schemes aimed at boosting agricultural income.
Listening to their concerns, the Union Minister assured them that the Central Government remains committed to farmers’ welfare and the enhancement of agricultural infrastructure. He emphasised that several schemes are being implemented to support farmers and improve rural livelihoods.

Focus on Farmer Welfare and Infrastructure
The Minister’s visit underscored the government’s approach of combining cultural engagement with grassroots development. By reviewing on-ground facilities and engaging directly with farmers, he sought to assess implementation gaps and encourage accountability at the local level.
Officials accompanying the Minister noted that expanding cold storage capacity and improving operational transparency are essential steps to protect farmers from distress sales and price volatility.
The visit reflected the broader commitment of the Union Government toward rural development, agricultural infrastructure, and farmer welfare, while also reaffirming the importance of India’s spiritual heritage.
