In a heartfelt expression of devotion, Sanjiv Goenka, a devotee from Kolkata, has donated precious gold ornaments worth ₹3.6 crore to Lord Venkateswara at the revered Tirumala temple. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which oversees the temple, confirmed that the donation consists of diamond-encrusted sacred hand ornaments, known as Kati and Varada Hasthams, weighing approximately 5.2 kilograms. This generous offering reflects the deep spiritual connection and gratitude devotees feel toward the deity.
The ornaments were formally handed over in a traditional ceremony at the temple’s Ranganayakula Mandapam to the TTD’s Additional Executive Officer, Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary. Such high-value contributions are a longstanding tradition at the temple, which is considered one of the richest and most significant Hindu shrines in the world. Devotees often view these offerings as a way to honor the divine and seek blessings.
Recently, the temple has seen several such acts of generosity. Just last week, three devotees from Bengaluru gifted four large silver lamps that now adorn the temple’s grand entrance, enhancing its spiritual ambiance. Additionally, in a compassionate gesture toward the safety of temple staff, a Delhi-based company donated 555 helmets valued at ₹5 lakh for personnel commuting between Tirumala and Tirupati, with plans to provide many more.
These acts of devotion and kindness remind us of the profound faith people place in their beliefs and the temple’s role not only as a spiritual center but also as a community that cares for its people. Sanjiv Goenka’s donation is a touching reminder of how faith inspires generosity and reverence, helping preserve the temple’s legacy for generations to come.
