Legislative Dept Launches Wall Painting Drive

RR Team, October 22, 2025October 21, 2025

The Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, has taken an innovative step to enhance its workspaces through a creative and sustainable wall painting initiative under the Government’s Special Campaign 5.0. Corridors and common areas in Shastri Bhawan have been adorned with thematic paintings highlighting the “Waste to Wealth” concept, promoting recycling, eco-friendliness, and environmental awareness.

Waste to Wealth Concept in Action

The initiative creatively repurposes old files, papers, and other discarded materials to create vibrant wall art. Themes include “Save the Earth,” “No Plastic,” and “Recycling to Art,” aligning with the government’s push for sustainability. This innovative approach not only beautifies the workplace but also reinforces environmental consciousness among employees.

Boosting Employee Morale and Institutional Pride

Besides promoting sustainability, the wall painting drive has had a positive impact on workplace aesthetics and employee morale. Officers and staff involved in the project expressed pride in contributing to a greener, more artistic environment. The project serves as a replicable model for other government departments aiming to integrate creativity with environmental responsibility.

Leadership and Execution

The painting activities at Shastri Bhawan were supervised by Shri R.K. Pattanayak, Additional Secretary and Nodal Officer, along with Smt. Rakhi Biswas, Under Secretary, and other departmental officers and staff. Shri Pattanayak emphasized the importance of adopting best practices under Special Campaign 5.0, highlighting the role of art in promoting institutional innovation and sustainability.

Model for Government Departments

This initiative demonstrates how local artistic talent can be harnessed while promoting recycling and environmental awareness. By converting waste into art, the Legislative Department has created a sustainable, engaging, and visually appealing workspace that inspires creativity and civic responsibility. Such initiatives can be adopted across other ministries and departments for greater impact.

Looking Ahead

As the Government of India continues to prioritize eco-friendly practices and sustainable innovations, the wall painting initiative sets an example of how departments can creatively integrate environmental consciousness into daily operations. Beyond aesthetics, this project reinforces a culture of sustainability, collaboration, and pride in government institutions.
