At the Annual Day function of Shyamlal College (Evening), Delhi University, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla delivered an inspiring address that highlighted the growing strength and pride of India’s armed forces and the pivotal role of the nation’s youth in shaping a brighter future. Speaking to a gathering of students and faculty, Shri Birla reflected on the transformation India has undergone in recent years, emphasizing how the country’s military, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has grown significantly stronger—both technologically and strategically.
He lauded the bravery and valor of India’s armed forces, acknowledging their tireless dedication in securing the nation’s borders. It is because of their courage, he said, that the country today enjoys a sense of safety and national pride. Shri Birla spoke with heartfelt conviction as he noted that the military continues to be a living example of heroism, constantly enhancing India’s global standing.
Turning to the youth, Shri Birla emphasized that their confidence, creativity, and commitment are the true strength of the nation. He urged students to embrace a “Nation First” mindset in every pursuit—be it academics, innovation, or daily conduct—and to contribute wholeheartedly to the vision of a developed India by 2047. He encouraged them to dream big and work with dedication, reminding them that the responsibility of nation-building now rests on their shoulders.
He praised Shyamlal College for its role in nurturing not just academic excellence, but also strong cultural and moral values. Such institutions, he said, are instrumental in producing a generation of disciplined and patriotic citizens prepared to lead the country forward.
Reflecting on India’s progress over the past 75 years, Shri Birla expressed pride in how the nation’s global recognition has grown. He highlighted how Indian youth are rising to global challenges with remarkable intelligence and dedication, and how their contributions are widely respected across the world. Drawing from India’s rich educational heritage—citing the ancient universities of Takshashila and Nalanda—he noted how modern India is continuing this legacy through a forward-looking education system that emphasizes innovation, research, and a blend of tradition with modernity.
He was especially pleased that universities across India are becoming hubs of innovation, creating real-world solutions and contributing to national development. The world today, he said, recognizes the exceptional skills and work ethic of Indian professionals, and the demand for Indian talent continues to grow.
Member of Parliament Shri Manoj Tiwari was also present on the occasion, adding to the significance of the event. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of pride and motivation, as Shri Birla’s words served as a stirring reminder of the power of courage, education, and national spirit in building a prosperous India.
