Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to Visit Jharkhand for SCCI Platinum Jubilee and Tribute to Birsa Munda

In a visit that reflects both respect for history and encouragement for enterprise, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla will embark on a two-day trip to Jharkhand starting Sunday, 25 May 2025. His visit comes at a meaningful time as he is set to address delegates at the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in Jamshedpur—a moment of pride not just for the business community, but for the entire state.

  1. The platinum jubilee marks 75 years of dedicated service by the SCCI, an institution that has played a pivotal role in shaping Jharkhand’s economic and industrial growth since its establishment in 1948. With over 1,500 members and an indirect impact on more than 175,000 people, the Chamber has stood as a strong pillar of commerce and employment in the region. The presence of Shri Om Birla at the celebration underlines the national recognition of its contributions. The event is expected to witness the participation of Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and former MPs, further highlighting its significance.

During his visit, Shri Birla will also pay floral tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Birsa Chowk in Ranchi, a gesture that echoes deep reverence for one of India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters. This tribute, on the soil where Birsa Munda led a courageous fight for the rights of the tribal community, is expected to resonate emotionally with the people of Jharkhand.

The Speaker’s itinerary also includes participation in a Nagrik Abhinandan Samaroh at Swaran Bhoomi, Dangratoli, organized by various local societies. This civic reception is seen as an opportunity for the public to engage with one of the highest constitutional authorities in India, fostering a closer connection between citizens and their democratic institutions.

Shri Om Birla’s visit to Jharkhand is more than just a ceremonial engagement—it is a tribute to the resilience of local enterprise, a salute to a historic legacy, and a moment of solidarity with the spirit of Jharkhand’s people.
