Real-Time Translation and E-Parliament Innovations
Discussing future digital initiatives, Shri Birla introduced the upcoming “Sansad Bhashini” AI translation system, which will allow every Member of Parliament to communicate in their preferred language. He described this development as a milestone for India’s diverse democracy, fostering inclusivity and strengthening parliamentary engagement.
He underscored that democracy thrives when citizens are actively engaged with their Parliament. The journey of the Indian Parliament from traditional systems to E-Parliament has significantly expanded its reach, responsiveness, and public participation, he said.
Digital Sansad: Integrated Governance
Under the “Digital Sansad” initiative, the Parliament of India has created an integrated digital ecosystem connecting MPs, ministries, and citizens through a unified platform. Shri Birla emphasized that these efforts represent a transformative shift in legislative governance, harnessing technology to strengthen transparency and citizen participation.
Highlighting India’s digital achievements under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he pointed out the development of low-cost, open Digital Public Infrastructure for 1.4 billion citizens. This infrastructure has revolutionized governance, finance, and public service delivery across the country.
AI Mission and Digital Inclusion
Shri Birla detailed India’s “AI Mission” — AI for All and AI for Good — as a visionary approach for citizen empowerment and transparent governance. He emphasized rapid 5G deployment, India’s position as the second-largest 5G market globally, and preparations for 6G, highlighting the country’s commitment to technological leadership.
The Speaker also mentioned India’s digital payments revolution through UPI and ongoing AI awareness initiatives, including free training for one million citizens. These programs aim to ensure affordable, inclusive, and people-centric digital access while promoting innovation at the grassroots level.
